Arriving at the Family Ranch in New Braunfels felt familiar, welcoming, elegant and warm. I pulled up and parked near the reception tent: Absolutely exquisite! Blake was there, finishing setting up while I unloaded and got ready to capture the ambience of the reception space while Erin was getting ready at her home near Gruene. From the twinkle light tree, to the greenery, cake, head table, candles, favors, gift table and more… the white tent was a dream to photograph! With white, green and gold as the theme and a white tent as a diffuser, it was effortless to throw light in every direction! My favorite light to shoot in, as you well know by now!
Unfortunately there was major traffic through Gruene so after getting ready, it turned a 15 minute drive for Erin to a one hour drive to get to the ranch… I felt so bad for her and could just imagine all the thoughts going through her head on her wedding day, being held up for so long. She honestly could have walked faster! 🤦🏼♀️ But she eventually made it with a smile on her face, ready to get the show on the road!
After a first look with Dad, we all made our way to the ceremony site. All the friends and family were anxiously waiting for that aisle moment, a spike and a buck were watching from a distance, and there were sweet dogs roaming free, being as sweet as could be. Only one part of the ceremony went *horribly* wrong (in a comical way). As Erin walked with her dad toward Blake, she looked beautiful. Perfect. Wonderful. Blake’s eyes said it all! It was as if he just wanted her to hurry up and reach the end of the aisle. When she finally did, he immediately kissed her! 😂 I can’t wait for you to scroll through the images and view the look on Blake’s face as soon as he realized… that’s supposed to happen at the end of the ceremony!! Of course, I don’t consider that going horribly wrong… it’s actually one of my favorite things when that happens! It’s not the first time, Blake! 🙃 But I love a good laugh when it does, haha.
After the ceremony and the family photo time, I got to spend some time with just Blake and Erin, capturing their love with sunset portraits! They were a blast to work with! I missed out on getting to capture engagement photos, so this was all new, us working together! They danced, they kissed, they flirted and they were naturals in front of the camera! After dazzling my lens, we headed back to that etherial tent for dinner and dancing, fire and s’mores, community and laughter. After completing the same day slide show, I joined in to capture all the festivities, and at the very end, Erin brought out her beautiful, fur shawl. I won’t soon forget this wedding as the details, laughter, family and fun keep me smiling every time I think back on it.
Thank you for your hospitality, Erin and Blake! I cannot wait to see your love journey unfold!
